Tanner received three WD/BOW and a BOB before the age of two and went Best of Breed from the Open Class at the Palo Verde GRC Specialty. Tanner finished his championship with 11 points from breeder judges including both majors. Thanks to judges Connie Gerstner Miller, Robert L. Robinson, Dana P. Cline, Suzanne Hemminger, Jane P. Jensen, Maureen Shaughnessy DVM, Eugene Blake and Gloria Kerr for recognizing Tanner.

Tanner was bred by Chris Miele (Cross Creek Goldens).

Tanner is a true type Golden Retriever, 24 inches tall and approximately 80 lbs. Being from slow maturing lines, Tanner didn’t fully mature and show his full potential until he was 7+ years old and continues to look great well into his veteran years.

HEAD: Overall typical English type head but requires a little more stop and greater depth of muzzle.

MOUTH: Full dentition and scissor bite.

EYES: Dark with good pigmentation.

COAT: Excellent coat texture (slightly coarse top coat and soft thick undercoat.)

CONFORMATION: Good length of neck that flows into a strong level topline and tail set. Shoulders are well laid back, resulting in correct front angulation. The overall picture is one of a well balanced dog with the rear matching the front.

MOVEMENT: Given the above, the movement is powerful with excellent reach and drive.

Tanner has been shown on a very limited basis as a Special but has had some great results.  In Tanner’s second weekend as a Special he was BOB and Sporting Group 2 – thank you judge Eugene Blake.  At the 2011 GRCA National Tanner gave us our biggest thrill to date by going 1st JAM – thank you breeder judge Barbara Pepper.  Tanner continues to be shown on a limited basis
as a Special – he has received multiple Group placements, BOBs, BOSs, and
Selects.  In November, 2012 Tanner earned
his Grand Championship with 6 major wins, 3 BOBs, a Sporting Group 2 and a
Sporting Group 3.

As a veteran Tanner has received BOBs, BOSs, Selects, JAMs, Group placements and multiple Best Veteran in Specialty and Best Veteran in Sweeps.  In 2014 Tanner earned a ranking in the top 20 at almost 9 years old.  In 2016 he received the Mile Hi Golden Retriever Club Top Veteran Traveling Trophy.  At 13 years old Tanner closed out his show career at the 2018 GRCA National win the 12+ Veteran Sweeps class and the 12+ Veterans class.  What a wild ride we’ve had with this great dog.
